twuewand, a truerand algorithm for generating entropy

twuewand is software that creates hardware-generated random data. It accomplishes this by exploiting the fact that the CPU clock and the RTC (real-time clock) are physically separate, and that time and work are not linked.

Download

twuewand requires Python 2.7 or later, and will work on POSIX operating systems. rndaddentropy support is limited to Linux.

Usage

user@host:~$ twuewand $(($(cat /proc/sys/kernel/random/poolsize)/8)) | sudo rndaddentropy
Generated 512.1 bytes, output 512

user@host:~$ cat /proc/sys/kernel/random/entropy_avail
3256

Development

twuewand development is managed with git, and is pushed to GitHub, where patches and merge requests are accepted.
